Cazgua café love story in Zetaquira Boyacá

Jairo Moreno and Fany Vanegas, coffee farmers Cazique Guanata coffee

In a magical corner of the Boyacá fields, where the aroma of coffee was connected with the whisper of the wind, Jairo Moreno and Fanny Vanegas, two souls meant to meet, starred in a love story that defied time and distances.

It was a December day in Zetaquira. Fanny made her usual trip from Guanatá to Zetaquira, on the renowned "La Macarena" bus. She got off at the corner in front of the church, and right there, Jairo Moreno and Fanny Vanegas locked eyes for the first time. They felt an inexplicable connection. Although both had spent their lives in Boyacá, they had never met in Zetaquira. Jairo was originally from the Vereda de Juracambita, while Fanny called Guanatá her home.

That same day, fate conspired to bring them together once again on the corner in front of the mayor's office. Jairo invited Fanny to share a cup of coffee, and right there they became friends, thus weaving the first chapter of their love story. Later, they met again on December 8 at the Feast of the Virgen del Coro, and promised to keep their connection alive through letters, since he lived in the south of the department of Bolívar at that time.

For a year, they exchanged letters until one day they finally agreed to meet at Cerro del Coro, but he never arrived. They were incommunicado for weeks, her thinking he had lost interest in her and looking for ways to communicate with her. Finally, after the disorder came calm and as if their destiny was strongly intertwined, they met again at the festive Fiesta de Velitas. They saw each other from afar and with a nod she invited him to sit together. That was when the truth came to light and he was able to explain to her that her bus had been delayed and that for this reason he had not been able to meet her. They ate and laughed together, they acted as if that night had no end.

Soon, their hearts recognized that their destiny was intertwined, and they decided that being together was their future. They became lovers, promising their eternal love on February 8, 1991 in Ramiriquí. It was the beginning of our journey towards a love that would last forever.

The passion of their love blossomed, and in a few months, their hearts gave life to beautiful fruit. On September 25, 1991, we welcomed our firstborn, Katherine, who brightened her lives with her arrival. Then, on October 6, 1993, Jhonatan joined her story, completing the family with the aroma of love and coffee that they had started.

Their love blossomed like the coffee fields they cultivated with so much care. Each coffee bean they collected was a connection with the generations that preceded them in this noble profession.

This is a love story woven in the fields of Boyacá, where coffee has witnessed every chapter of their lives.
